Born in Karachi, Namira is the first Pakistani to go into space. Namira is one of the earliest founders of Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic, which is the world's first commercial space liner. Namira is also widely known as the First South Asian Space Tourist.Namira was among those 100 shortlisted persons among 44000 candidates, who were to travel in space. In August 2006 she was officially recognized as the "First Pakistani Astronaut" by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of Pakistan.

She is also the first Pakistani to reach the North Pole in April 2007 and the South Pole in January of 2008.& also she is the first Asian and first Pakistani to skydive over Mount Everest, during the historic First Everest Skydives 2008.
